In these stakes I think these two have to be right up there:

'Blue' by Derek Jarman:
One hour and seventeen minutes of luminous blue glow, unchanging, calming, irritating, numbing. It does have a soundtrack though - snippets of sound, music and Jarman's thoughts on his blindness and approaching death.

'Empire' by Andy Warhol:
It begins with a totally white screen and as the sun sets, the image of the Empire State Building emerges. The floodlights on its exterior come on, the building's lights flicker on and off for the next SIX AND A HALF hours, then the floodlights go off again so that the remainder of the film takes place in nearly total darkness.

it's about a man teaming up with his armless mother to kill people in mexico (or is it spain?) - too weird for words - includes elephant burials, disabled children snorting coke and various circus weirdos
weird, arty and just, not right.
